Under The Skin, written by Cormac Myles, is a one-act black comedy about the unlikely friendship between Katie and Leon. They meet on the roof of an abandoned building after a catastrophe close to both of them shakes their town to its core.
Leon has Anatidaephobia. A phobia of ducks. And swans too. But mainly ducks. He’s absolutely terrified. And when he’s confronted by his fear one day after school, he runs, just runs, with his yellow backpack flying behind him. Until he ends up somewhere high above the ground, where he meets Katie. She’s already there, remembering. Remembering what life was like before everything changed. Before the impact rattled the town. Before the ground’s tremors knocked her flat.
This is a play about how terrifying the internet can be. It’s about the influences young people are exposed to, where our fears come from, and how people justify their violence. It’s about Katie. It’s about Leon. And how it all happened.
